Winter Term 2012: January 9th to March 26th

Objective

The class is intended to introduce the students to basic conversational Chinese as well as reading and writing skills. The course may also be employed as a refresher or to bolster existing incipient skills. The emphasis will be given to immersing the students in the language and providing a solid foundation in essential phases and commonly-used vocabulary. The course will employ situational learning where the students learn and use the language in commonly-encountered situations. Chinese cultural knowledge will also be employed to provide context.
